Reading Excellence Award
Every second, third, and fourth grade teacher in Auglaize and Mercer counties is invited to nominate one student from their classroom to receive the award. The teacher selects the most improved reader, a student who has made significant progress, not the best student of the class. During a ceremony at the festival, each award winner is recognized, given a certificate, and receives a voucher for a book from one of the participating authors.
The Festival
The Grand Lake Area Literature Festival is held annually at Tri Star Career Compact in Celina, Ohio. The festival is an all day, open house style event. Authors from Ohio and across the nation present for children, teens and adults that address a wide range of interests. Other activities include a craft room for children, book signings, author presentations and readings, visual storytelling workshops, panel discussions and book sales.
The 2027 festival, free and open to the public, will be Saturday, March 20th, 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Our Mission
“To enrich lives through engaging children, teens and adults with authors, literature, ideas and imagination to explore their creative spirits. We work closely with schools to help inspire children of all ages to enjoy reading, writing and art. At the festival, students are recognized for improving reading skills. The committee works with school districts to arrange visits by authors attending the festival.”
Donations
The success of the Grand Lake Area Literature Festival is dependent upon the generosity of individuals, service organizations, foundations and area corporations. The festival is organized and conducted by volunteers.
